The Institute of Polish Culture offers BA and MA full-time programmes in cultural studies and an MA full-time social arts programme. The language of instruction in all classes is Polish.
Both BA and MA programmes in cultural studies are unique in the Polish higher education system, combining anthropological reflection on cultural practices, media and representations with the history of Polish culture, as well as a rich offer of methodological workshops, elective classes and practical courses, that all together are meant to help develop research and social skills. Cultural studies programmes offered by the Institute of Polish Culture are meant to support students in their reflexive and self-reflexive critical engagement in culture.
The social arts programme is oriented towards action learning processes that enable students to plan and implement creative cultural projects benefiting from open artistic practices and social activism.
Some classes are taught by experienced practitioners from the social environment or conducted in cooperation with important institutions from the Polish heritage and culture sector, such as the Museum of Warsaw, Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum, Centre of Community Archives, and several NGOs.
The Institute is also involved in didactic cooperation with other University units on full-time MA programmes in Urban studies (consortium leader: Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies) and Gender and sexuality studies (together with the American Studies Center).
