The team is responsible for programming and conducting practical master’s studies Social Arts and practical postgraduate studies Theatre Pedagogy, implements socio-artistic projects, and conducts research activities. The interests of the team members include, ideas of social engagement, forms of participation in culture, engaged art, urban studies, institutional critique, social memory, anthropology of performance and qualitative research methodologies.
The Social Arts studies prepares students to run and lead creative activities in various social environments and institutional contexts: theatres, museums, culture centres, schools and other educational institutions, social work homes, NGOs and as part of individual independent practice. The students are involved in projects carried out collectively beyond the university walls in collaboration with different institutions and practitioners.
The team also carries out activities related to the social role of the university and its relations with the non-academic environment, including Field Workshops, the Powiśle Project, UW/Introspections, UW/Transgressions. In addition to ongoing cooperation with cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations, the team regularly participates in expert work in the field of culture, as well as conducts social consultations and supports local initiatives.
