Structure

The Institute of Polish Culture is part of the Faculty of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw. The Institute’s staff, doctoral candidates, M.A. and B.A. students conduct wide-ranging, interdisciplinary research of contemporary and historical cultural practices, discourses, and representations. 

The Institute is divided into the following five Sections: Cultural History, Contemporary Culture, Anthropology of the Word Section, Film and Visual Culture, Theatre and Performance. Our scholars and graduate students are also actively involved in cross-section research teams, devoted to such topics as Holocaust studies; literacy and education studies; theories and practices of socialism; science fiction. Additionaly, the Social Arts Team is responsible for the programming and organizational aspects of thew M.A. programme in social arts, as well as developing collaborative projects, and conducting research activities.
