Assistant Professor and Head of the Film and Visual Culture Section. Her research interests include relations between visual culture and science, and new technologies. She is interested in ways how images both reflect and influence cultural changes. Currently she is researching images of human and posthuman reproduction, the cultural role of foetal images, contemporary and futuristic images of motherhood and the changes in imagining parenthood and its cultural role.
Author of W stronę wirtualności. Praktyki artystyczne kina współczesnego [Towards Virtuality. Artistic Practices of Contemporary Cinema, 2015], co-editor of Sztuka w kinie dokumentalnym [Art in Documentary Cinema, 2016] and Cięcie ciał. Ruchome obrazy [Cutting Bodies. Moving Images, 2018]. She has published in Kwartalnik Filmowy, View. Theories and Practices of Visual Culture, Technoethic Arts and Panoptikum. In the years 2017–2021, she was an editor in Pleograf. Kwartalnik Akademii Polskiego Filmu.
A member of Polish Society for Film and Media Studies.
She teaches classes in cultural anthropology, anthropology of visual culture, new media studies, contemporary culture, and elective courses in her area of research.
Fulbright researcher at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles (2008–2009); visiting Scholar in Reproductive Sociology Research Group at the University of Cambridge.
