Associate Professor at the Contemporary Culture Section. Co-founder and head of UW Urban Studies (interdepartmental consortium). Associate of the University Centre for Research on Varsovian Culture. Co-founder and member of the Urban Studies Laboratory in IKP. 

Graduated in Cultural Studies at IKP (2003 – among the first graduates of the young faculty), PhD in Cultural Studies (2008, dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Roch Sulima), habilitation in Cultural and Religious Studies (2020).

He specialises in classical theories in urban studies, everyday life and marginalities in the culture of Warsaw, Scandinavian studies and geopolitics of the Baltic Sea area, cultural studies of the sea, infrastructural and political studies and social theories of contemporary culture.

Associate of the Department of Scandinavian Studies at the University SWPS. Member of the Council of the Faculty of Polish Studies, General Secretary of the Polish Cultural Studies Association in 2009-2013, member of the Research Committee on Culture of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the term of office 2024-2028, member of the Jury of the Zygmunt Gloger Medal and Award, member of the Board of the Social Press Association “Stopka” in Łomża (2013-2023).

He was a contractor in the grant “Topo-graphs” (NPRH – National Program of the Research in Humanities). He managed an individual grant from NCN (National Science Center). He represents Poland in the Managament Committee of the European COST grant “Rethinking the Blue Economy. Socio-ecological impacts and opportunities” from 2023 to 2027.

He is the author of three books in Polish. He has edited and co-edited numerous collective volumes. He has translated William Arens The Man-Eating Myth and Jens Andersen’s new Scandinavian biography of Astrid Lindgren Dene dag, et liv into Polish. He is, among other things, the winner of the Klio First Prize in the category of best scholarly monograph. He has been awarded the badge of honour for services to Polish culture. He received a team award from the Minister of Education and Higher Education for outstanding teaching achievements.
