mgr Bartosz Nowak

Graduate of Cultural Studies at the Institute of Polish Culture, University of Warsaw, and a doctoral student at the Doctoral School of Humanities, University of Warsaw. 

His research interests include the cultural history of the nineteenth century and sound studies. His MA thesis, “We Live in the Phonic Age”: A Cultural History of the Phonograph in the Warsaw Press, 1878–1895, received Second Prize in the Bronisław Geremek Award for the Best MA and BA Theses in the Anthropology of History. 

He is a co-founder of the Sound Studies Reading Club at the University of Warsaw, which explores and promotes sound studies within the academic community. He is currently preparing a PhD dissertation on the history of telephony in nineteenth-century Polish culture under the supervision of Prof. Iwona Kurz.
