Marcin Napiórkowski – Associate Professor in the Section for Contemporary Culture; semiotician, structuralist, contemporary mythology scholar. His research interests include various forms of vernacular culture and cultural memory. Napiórkowski majored in cultural studies (2006, UW) and sociology (2008, UW), earned his PhD in philosophy from Graduate School for Social Research in 2010, and habilitation (habilitacja) in cultural studies in 2015. In the years 2013–14 he was a postdoctoral visiting researcher at the University of Virginia. He authored two books: Mitologia współczesna [Contemporary Mythology] (2013) and Władza wyobraźni [The Power of Imagination] (2014). He is currently working on a book presenting the history of memory and commemoration of the Warsaw Uprising 1944.
