Anna Mikołejko

Anna Mikołejko (1951) – Professor in the Section for Contemporary Culture; anthropologist, sociologist of culture and historian of ideas. In 2005–2013 she was lecturer at the Melchior Wańkowicz School of Journalism, where she also served as Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Social Communication. Since 2007, she teaches cultural anthropology and anthropology of music at the graduate program of the Fryderyk Chopin Music University. Author of approximately 200 academic publications and essays. She has conducted research on mass media and the crisis of authority in Poland, virtual reality, counterculture youth, changes in value systems, and especially the transformation of religious and para-religious culture. In the years 1990–1998, she was also the deputy editor of the monthly „Open Society” and president of the foundation responsible for publishing the journal. She is currently a member of the Program Council of the Institute of Psychology of Myth, as well as a member of the Scientific Council of the Polish Association for the Study of Western Esotericism and a member of the Council of the Program „Hermaion”. She is currently working on the image of the esoteric tradition in the Polish culture in the 19th and 20th century. In 2014, she was awarded the Medal of the National Education Commission.
